Safety Policy
Our Commitment to a Safe Platform
At CargoDelivery, operating at cargodelivery.eu, we run an open online notice board that connects private van and truck owners with individuals and businesses who need to move parcels, personal belongings, large items, furniture, animals, and passengers across Europe. Because the safety and well-being of every person who uses our platform matters deeply to us, we have established this Safety Policy to set out the standards of behaviour, responsibility, and due care that we expect from every carrier and every sender who publishes or responds to a listing on cargodelivery.eu.
This Safety Policy is a binding part of our Terms of Service and should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and our Customs Rules page. Together, these documents define the framework within which all activity on CargoDelivery must take place. By creating an account, posting a listing, or responding to an advertisement on our platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to comply with this Safety Policy in full.
- Transparent listings and honest descriptions
- Verified vehicle and licence documentation
- Responsible handling of goods and animals
- Safe and lawful passenger transport
- Respect for customs and border regulations
- Clear and honest communication between parties
- Prompt reporting of incidents and disputes
- Zero tolerance for prohibited items and fraud
What CargoDelivery Is — and What It Is Not
CargoDelivery is a digital notice board, not a logistics company, courier service, freight broker, or transport operator. We do not own any vehicles, employ any drivers, arrange any shipments, or act as an agent or intermediary for any party. Our role is solely to provide an online space where private vehicle owners can advertise available transport capacity and where senders can search for suitable carriers for their specific needs.
Every arrangement made through cargodelivery.eu is a private agreement entered into directly between the carrier and the sender. CargoDelivery is not a party to that agreement, does not supervise its performance, and does not guarantee its outcome. We do not verify the identity, qualifications, insurance status, or professional licences of any user beyond the basic account registration process, and we make no representation that any carrier or sender is suitable, reliable, or lawful.
⚠ CargoDelivery accepts no liability whatsoever for loss, damage, injury, delay, customs penalties, or any other harm arising from transactions arranged through our platform. All risk lies with the parties to each individual agreement.
It is therefore essential that every user exercises their own independent judgment, conducts their own due diligence, and takes full responsibility for any agreement they enter into. The guidance set out in this Safety Policy is provided to help you do that effectively, but it does not transfer any responsibility from you to CargoDelivery.
Safety Responsibilities of Carriers
If you are a carrier — a private van owner, truck driver, or any individual advertising transport capacity on CargoDelivery — you carry the primary responsibility for the safety of every journey you undertake through our platform. Before you post a listing, accept a booking, or collect any goods or passengers, you must ensure that you meet all of the following requirements:
Vehicle Roadworthiness and Legal Compliance
Your vehicle must be roadworthy, properly maintained, and legally registered for use on public roads in the countries through which you intend to travel. You must hold a valid driving licence of the correct category for the vehicle you are operating and the type of transport you are offering. If you are engaged in commercial transport activities, it is your sole responsibility to determine whether your operations require a commercial carrier licence, an operator's permit, or any other regulatory authorisation in the relevant jurisdictions, and to obtain such authorisation before advertising on our platform.
Insurance
You must carry adequate insurance for every journey. At a minimum, this means third-party liability insurance as required by law. If you are transporting goods, animals, or passengers for reward — even informally — you should consult your insurer to confirm that your policy covers such activities, as standard private motor insurance typically does not. CargoDelivery does not provide or arrange any insurance, and we will not be liable for any uninsured loss or damage under any circumstances.
Safe Loading and Securing of Cargo
All goods loaded into your vehicle must be secured in accordance with applicable road safety regulations. Unsecured loads are a serious road safety hazard and may also constitute a criminal offence in many jurisdictions. You are responsible for assessing whether the cargo presented to you is suitable for transport in your vehicle, whether it is packed appropriately, and whether it can be secured safely for the duration of the journey. You have the right to refuse to load any item you consider unsafe, and you are encouraged to exercise that right whenever necessary.
Transport of Animals
The transport of live animals is subject to specific legal requirements in most European countries and under EU regulations. If you advertise animal transport services on cargodelivery.eu, you must comply with all applicable animal welfare legislation, including requirements relating to vehicle space, ventilation, temperature, water, rest periods, and documentation. You are solely responsible for ensuring that the animals in your care are transported safely and humanely throughout the journey.
Passenger Transport
Offering passenger transport services through CargoDelivery may be subject to taxi, private hire, or ridesharing licensing requirements depending on your country. It is your sole responsibility to determine what licences or permits apply to your activities, to obtain them before offering your services, and to comply with all passenger safety requirements including seat belts, maximum occupancy limits, and passenger insurance. You must never carry more passengers than your vehicle is legally permitted to transport.
Honest and Accurate Listings
All listings you post on CargoDelivery must be truthful and complete. You must not misrepresent your vehicle type, capacity, route, timings, qualifications, insurance status, or pricing. Misleading listings damage trust on our platform and may expose you to legal liability. We reserve the right to remove any listing we deem inaccurate or misleading and to suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly breach this requirement.
Safety Responsibilities of Senders
If you are a sender — an individual or business using CargoDelivery to find a carrier for your goods, animals, or passengers — you are equally responsible for ensuring that your part of any arrangement is lawful, safe, and fair. Before you post a listing or agree to use a carrier's services, you must satisfy yourself of the following:
Accurate Description of Goods
You must provide an accurate, honest, and complete description of everything you wish to transport. This includes the nature of the goods, their dimensions and weight, any fragility or special handling requirements, and any characteristics that could affect safety during transport. Providing false or incomplete information about your cargo may expose the carrier to risks they did not agree to take on, and may expose you to legal liability.
Prohibited and Restricted Items
You must not use CargoDelivery to arrange the transport of any prohibited or restricted item. This includes, but is not limited to, the following categories:
- Weapons, firearms, and ammunition
- Explosive or flammable substances
- Controlled drugs and narcotics
- Counterfeit or stolen goods
- Hazardous chemicals and toxic materials
- Undeclared currency above legal limits
- Items subject to import or export bans
- Any item prohibited by applicable law
Any attempt to transport prohibited items through our platform is a serious breach of this Safety Policy and of our Terms of Service. We cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities and will report suspicious activity without hesitation. Carriers who suspect that they have been asked to transport prohibited goods should refuse the shipment and report their concerns to the relevant authorities and to CargoDelivery.
Proper Packaging
It is your responsibility as a sender to ensure that your goods are packed in a manner that is appropriate for road transport. Fragile items must be adequately cushioned and labelled. Liquids must be sealed and contained to prevent leakage. Items with sharp edges must be wrapped to prevent injury during handling. Carriers are not responsible for damage caused by inadequate packaging, and CargoDelivery accepts no liability in this regard.
Customs and Cross-Border Compliance
If your shipment will cross an international border, you are responsible for ensuring full compliance with the customs requirements of every country involved. This includes providing accurate customs declarations, paying any applicable duties and taxes, and ensuring that the goods you are shipping are permitted to be imported or exported. Failure to comply with customs rules can result in your goods being seized, significant financial penalties for both you and your carrier, and potential criminal prosecution. Please review our Customs Rules page for detailed guidance before arranging any cross-border shipment.
Choosing a Carrier Carefully
CargoDelivery does not vet or endorse any carrier listed on our platform. It is your responsibility to assess the suitability of any carrier you choose to work with. We recommend that you review the carrier's listing carefully, ask for proof of a valid driving licence and insurance, confirm that their vehicle is appropriate for your cargo, agree on the route and timeline in writing, and make arrangements for tracking or delivery confirmation where possible. Exercise the same caution you would when engaging any private service provider you have not worked with before.
User Verification and Due Diligence
CargoDelivery does not carry out comprehensive identity checks, background checks, criminal record checks, or professional licence verifications on any user. We provide a basic account registration process, but this process is not a guarantee of any user's identity, trustworthiness, or legal compliance. The responsibility for verifying the people you do business with through our platform rests entirely with you.
Important: Never pay a carrier in full before your goods have been delivered. We recommend agreeing on staged payments, or using a secure payment method that allows for disputes, wherever possible. CargoDelivery is not involved in any financial transaction between users and cannot assist with payment recovery.
Before confirming any arrangement through cargodelivery.eu, we strongly encourage you to take the following steps as a matter of good practice:
- Ask the carrier to provide a copy of their driving licence and vehicle registration document
- Request proof of insurance, including the policy number and coverage period
- Confirm that the carrier's vehicle is appropriately sized and equipped for your specific cargo
- Agree on the full price, route, collection point, and delivery timeline before any goods change hands
- Use a written agreement or at minimum a detailed message thread that records the key terms
- Share tracking information or arrange check-in points for long-distance journeys
- Check user ratings and any feedback left by previous senders or carriers where available
- Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, walk away
Prohibited Conduct on Our Platform
The following activities are strictly prohibited on CargoDelivery. Engaging in any of these behaviours constitutes a serious breach of this Safety Policy and our Terms of Service, and may result in immediate suspension or permanent termination of your account, as well as referral to law enforcement where appropriate:
- Posting false, misleading, or fraudulent listings
- Impersonating another person or organisation
- Arranging transport of prohibited or illegal items
- Engaging in price manipulation or bait-and-switch tactics
- Harassment, threats, or abusive behaviour toward other users
- Operating without the required licences or permits
- Facilitating undeclared cross-border shipments
- Collecting personal data from users for unauthorised purposes
We take reports of prohibited conduct seriously. If you believe another user is violating this Safety Policy, please contact us immediately using the details provided at the end of this document. We will investigate all credible reports and take appropriate action, though we are not able to guarantee a particular outcome in every case.
